The operational base of this Triathlon with 1.9 km swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21 km running will be on the paseo de Amadores. There will be the transition zone from the various disciplines, as well as the finish and start line, the latter develops on it’s beach and dock with the explosive start by the swimmers as they enter the sea.

As a result, Amadores, next to hotel Gloria Palace, will be one of the main features of Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria, a competition with which the island is positioned first and decisively as a global destination for professional Triathlon.

With this sponsorship, the spectacular resort, built on a cliff overlooking the sea of the calm of the Island West and the volcano the Teide during the 340 days of sunshine a year recorded by Mogan; considered as the place with the best climate in the world, reinforces its commitment to tourism of health and sports in expanding throughout Europe.

The Gloria Palace Amadores is one of the most complete Thalasso centres of Europe. It has 1,800 square meters devoted entirely to health. This specialized equipment includes an impressive fitness pool, a full gym and a treatment area.

Challenge Mogan-Gran Canaria will offer detailed information about the various registration and accommodation packages at the Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso & Hotel on its website http://challengegrancanaria.com/ for those who want to compete in the race to be held in September.

Cabildo of Gran Canaria and Ayuntamiento de Mogán are the promoters of this sport and promotional initiative that will allow the island to host an International Triathlon race, with a wide global projection thanks to international races organized by the Challenge or Ironman marks.

At the launch of the race, Vice President and island Councilor for sports, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Mayor of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, highlighted the decision to promote the annual event since it increases sporting events on offer with external projection in an ambitious project to make Gran Canaria in the ‘European sport island’.

The date of the Challenge Mogan-Gran Canaria event favors the presence of the European elite of this sport on the island to prepare face for the World Championships, which take place three weeks later in Hawaii. Around 700 participants are expected in the first edition to reach 1,500 in the third year. Half of the athletes will be from the rest of Europe, with more than 20 different nationalities, mainly British and German.

The managing director of the Challenge Family, Félix Walchshöfer said in the presentation, this race will be “among the top events” of this international franchise and pointed out that the event “is ideal since Mogán has a spectacular climate, infrastructure and services that will make it one of the most desirable”.

Meanwhile, the six-time winner of the Hawaii World Championship, Natascha Badmman, noted that the South of Gran Canaria is the “perfect place” for a triathlon. The Swiss triathlete has spent more than 20 years in the island so most of her successes, including his six titles in the most prestigious race of this sport, have been forged on the roads of Mogán.

“For many years I’ve said that this is the perfect place to train. Good weather, and both the good mountains and its wonderful ocean. It was not until the last four or five years that other athletes have realized that the South of Gran Canaria is the perfect place to train”, said Badmnan in a recent meeting between organizers and athletes Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria in Amadores.
